International Walk to School Dayl
On Thursday, October 05, 2006 approximately 75 students from West Royalty Elementary participated in the International Walk to School Day leaving from two locations; West Royalty Community Center and the Upton Park Subdivision. This was the fifth year that the school has participated in this event and we were honored this year to be joined by staff, parents and many local politicians. The route was secured by the Charlottetown City Police and the students enjoyed waving to traffic and school buses enroute to the school. Both groups arrived at the bottom of Commonwealth Avenue at the same time and walked up the hill to the school where crossing guard Rob MacEachern happily held up traffic, so that all students could safely enter the playground. Each student was provided with a bottle of water and a Walk to School sticker for their efforts. The Home & School Association has plans to expand the event for next year.
