2009 Canada Games Activity Challenge Launched
On June 6th, 2007 the PEI Active Living Alliance and the 2009 Canada Games officially launched the 2009 Canada Games Activity Challenge.
During the two years leading up to the games on PEI, Canadians are encouraged to login to www.peiactiveliving.com to record their activity to accumulate enough Kms to take all the 2009 athletes from their hometowns to PEI. For the purpose of the challenge, this website has been designed so that communities can face off against each other in a friendly challenge to see what community can accumulate the most steps.
In 2008 these communities will be paired up with communities across Canada. These communities will also be encouraged to enter their information. All activities will go towards the goal of accumulating enough to virtually take all the athletes from their hometowns to PEI for the games.
The PEI Active Living Alliance is excited about this new initiative; a new website has been created to convert any activity into Kms to add to the total needed. For example, if you enter that you have played mini golf for an hour, it will tell you that you have travelled 4 Km. Each community’s total will be shown, as well, participants will be able to see the community they are paired up with. Go for a jog, hit the gym, all of it can be tracked.
The website will convert all of your activities to Kms and then add them to your community’s total. To register your participation click here.
